The Encyclopedia Pictura team, led by Isaiah Saxon and Sean Hellfritsch, expanded their core team to include a number of 3D animators and Unity developers. They worked on the project for over a year splitting time between their then-SF-based office and GR Headquarters in Brooklyn, creating multiple variations on game play and, as per usual, painting backgrounds and textures by hand.
Kanye West has been a long-time fan of Encyclopedia Pictura. The mutual admiration finally came to fruition when they decided to pursue an interactive digital project together. Set to the track “Only One” from the Life of Pablo, Encyclopedia Pictura applied their signature style to a mythical world where Kanye’s mom, Donda is attempting to navigate her way to heaven. You can perform barrel rolls and ride a pegasus as Donda floats through the clouds. Just watch out for the Grimm Reaper.
